Sharing Knowledge Without Using It as a Weapon

March 3, 2013 By Julie

March 4th is National Grammar Day. (March Forth, get it?) So it is a day for Grammar Geeks like me to celebrate. Several writers are sharing their thoughts about the day. I ran across this posting by Kory Stamper for “A Plea for Sanity” this year. (Warning: brief language, for those who are sensitive to such words.)

After reading this article, I realized that I associate with two groups of people who have the tendency to go overboard. I like to think of myself as a Grammar Geek, but not a Grammar Nazi. If you want or need assistance, I am happy to help. But you don’t need to be afraid that I will send back your emails with grammatical corrections pointed out. I also think of myself as a Christian. However, I don’t want to force my faith onto others who may not share my beliefs. There are lessons in the linked article to be learned by both groups.

Please remember to speak kindly to others.
